Tennessee Volunteers vs. LSU Tigers Predictions for Today

While neither team has officially announced their starting pitcher for tonight’s matchup, we’d anticipate that Tennessee will start right-hander Drew Beam (9-4, 3.78 ERA). On the other hand, LSU has a trio of players who may get the start: LHP Riley Cooper (4-3, 4.89 ERA), RHP Blake Money (1-0, 5.97 ERA) or RHP Christian Little (2-2, 7.09 ERA). Of those three players, we’d say that Riley has the best chance of getting the nod. He leads those three players in appearances and has a significantly lower ERA than both.

With that being the case, our Tennessee vs. LSU predictions are focused on the Volunteers being able to knock off their SEC rival.

Tennessee vs. LSU Best Bets & CWS Picks for 6/20 Including Tennessee

At the plate, LSU’s lineup has a small advantage. They’re led by two of the best collegiate hitters in the country: Dylan Crews (.433, 17 HR) and Tommy White (.375, 22 HR). Besides these two, the Tigers also boast several other players with averages above .300 and another few that have hit 10 or more home runs.

Still, Tennessee has plenty of thump in their lineup. Led by Jared Dickey (.329, 12 HR) and Griffin Merritt (.312, 18 HR), the Volunteers can put up runs with the best of them. They also have plenty of lineup depth, with several high-average hitters plus a few power hitters.

The Volunteers enter the game with a bit of momentum after a come-from-behind victory to stave off elimination on Monday. This is an important aspect of college baseball – young athletes are more heavily affected by momentum and outside influences, so it’s important to bear in mind. Moreover, LSU may be in a lull, as they dropped into the losers bracket for the first time with a flat performance against Wake Forest.

Tennessee also has one of their better starting pitchers available for the matchup, while it seems LSU will need to play mix-and-match on the bump. With the above analysis in mind, the best bet from our Tennessee vs. LSU predictions is on the Volunteers money line (-118 at FanDuel Sportsbook).
